The artist's practice

Jasmine has 2 main bodies of work. Landscapes and seascape of the Northern Rivers region and surreal personal works.

When creating a landscape or seascape piece she generally goes and sits to paint the view outside. These small works are sometimes kept as finished pieces but can inform larger works.

In her studio Jasmine uses all natural paint which she makes up from pigment supplied by a lovely female run small business called Natural Earth Pigments. Jasmine also collect natural ochres and charcoal from the land she lives on. These high lightfast natural paints are then applied to thick quality 300gsm acid free cotton duck watercolour paper.

Jasmine's Studio

Her studio is based at her home at the Channon near Nimbin and Nightcap National Park. It is in the middle of the rainforest surrounded by inspiration and quiet.

In this space she works on the final stages of larger landscapes but also her surreal personal pieces. In this quiet Jasmine can go into her thoughts and feelings and manifest images from within.

Early Years

Jasmine was born in 1981 in a small town in the South West of Ireland.

She has been painting since she was a little child, when she received her first Watercolour set from her encouraging parents.

Her initial paintings were mainly watercolour botanicals of wild flowers collected from the hedgerows. Jasmine would make little books identifying the painted specimens.
